FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, This past Friday, May 10th, I spent time in Columbus with my mom celebrating her 88th birthday. It was an enjoyable time for all of us. My younger brother and I took her out to dinner at The Barn in Gahanna and reminisced about the past. She was born on Mother’s Day, 1936, in Chicago. My grandmother, Marie Herold, almost died giving birth to her. I told her that she had to make it another 3 years since her dad, Hugo Herold, lived until age 91. I plan on bringing her to Bedford next month for a few weeks when my younger brother and sister-in-law go to Rome. She sends love and prayers to everyone at Our Lady of Hope and Saint Mary. This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and we wish all mothers and grandmothers all God’s blessings. The following is from the Book of Blessings, and this prayer will be prayed over all moms at the end of each weekend Mass: “Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
